He has original painted and varnished surface with red accents in the face and retains the original wool baize hair. His gender-specific attribute is a re-purposed early 1900s brass drawer pull. I suspect he performed a surprising trick when strings (hidden by his costume) were pulled; there are holes on the inside of one leg where some other hardware was attached. He displays beautifully as is and is a remarkable example of southern folk carving.
